MISS WORLD PUNJABAN - 2000


Swaranjit Sandhu stunningly beautiful and charming female from Ferozepur was crowned with the most prestigious title of Miss WORLD PANJABAN ® 2000 held on 25th of November at Ludhiana. A MCA student and 5'6" tall she impressed the gathering with her exceptional performance and confidence. A dexterous dancer and lover of music Sandhu believes that real beauty of a person lies in her seerat (Character) and not surat (Facial Beauty) which is evasive with age.
She was indeed best amongst the best and impressed the jury with her talent, traditional looks and quick wit. She enthralled the audience with her talents, beauty and knowledge of culture and traditions. She danced on the tunes of the song "Nach Lain De Ni Mainu Deor De Viah Vich" sung by Surinder Kaur.
She was crowned a pure gold SAGGIPHUL, a decent momento and above all with the pride of a Panjaban A PHULKARI by the last winner Ms. Sukhleena Minhas along with the Founder Director of Pageant Mr.Jasmer Singh Dhatt.
Beautiful and demure Aman , 5'5" in her shoes bagged the second position. A student of B.A from Ramgarhia Girls College of Ludhiana she performed a dance sequence on the tunes of the song , "Kale Rang Da Pranda Mere Sajna Ne Anda". Poonam Walia the 2nd runner up is the student of BBA and is elated at winning the position.
Miss WORLD PANJABAN-2000 thus the became a milestone and had many aces to its credit. Many applicants reprersenting various foreign countries applied to be part of Pageant out of which Reema Walia a student of Milwaukee Area Technical University, America was selected out of sixteen screened contestants. This Pageant was recorded and telecasted by ETC channel Punjabi due to its excluvity.
Mr.Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Union Minister of India , and world famous singer Sirdool Sikander were the guests of the honour.
Folk singer Amar Noorie was awarded the title of "Malika-e-Taranum" by the organizers of the Pageant for her distinguished presence at the occasion.
